My name is Ian Pearce. I grew up in the Evangelical Baptist tradition. Over the years, my faith in God has developed and grown. I have learned to appreciate and value all Christian traditions. I have extensive experience in preaching and leading churches. I am the Minister of Christ the King Community Church, Kents Hill, Milton Keynes which embraces Baptist, Church of England, Methodist and the United Reformed Church. It is part of the Walton Ecumenical Partnership. I trained in Spiritual Direction with the SpiDir Network (Berks, Bucks and Oxon) and am recognised by them as a spiritual director. Passing the SpiDir course does not automatically mean you are recognised. I have a Certificate in Cross-professional Supervision and Reflection, with the Institute of Pastoral Supervision and Reflective Practice. As well as having my own spiritual director, I have a spiritual director supervisor and a separate supervisor for pastoral supervision. I am trained in leading Open Door Retreats and hold a certificate in Chaplaincy for the older generation. At the moment, I am studying to be a Regionally Recognised Pastor in the Baptist Union. I am up to date, with my safeguarding training and BDS checked via my home church.
I am a member of
The London Centre for Spiritual Direction
Spiritual Direction international. (SDI),
The Association for Pastoral Supervision and Education. (APSE)
and on the Chaplaincy team for St Katherine's Retreat House, Parmoor, RG9 6NN
I am a Recognised Mentor of the Oxford Diocese, Personal Development Plan (PDP).
and hold a Diploma in Mindfulness based Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
I believe that Spiritual Direction, Pastoral Supervision, Retreat Leadership, Chaplaincy and Church Pastor is what God has called me to do, during my retirement.
I believe in the overwhelming love, compassion and forgiveness of God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit. As shown in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and that the Holy Spirit now guides us in our Christian journey. I believe that your journey with God is far more important than your church or denominational allegiance. My role is to allow you to explore your faith in a safe, confidential space without judgement or persuasion.
Along with contemplative deep listening, I accompany you, help you to explore what God is saying to you and pray for you. It is all confidential, (unless there are safeguarding issues.),
